Zoom caption notes
Meeting notes from visible Zoom captions
When a Zoom meeting shows live captions, I Was Listening can read those visible words from the window you choose and keep them in a private, editable notebook. It does not join the call or record its audio.
How it works
- Select Start taking notes.
- Choose the meeting window where captions are visible.
- I Was Listening finds the caption area and builds an editable notebook.
An editable notebook, not a recording
The app reads pixels from the Zoom window you explicitly share. Best-effort speaker labels may appear when a name is clearly visible next to the caption. If the evidence is uncertain, the note remains unlabeled.
Edit captured text, add your own notes, highlight passages, attach short comments, search, and copy the current notebook as plain text.
What stays local
OCR runs in your browser. There is no account, meeting bot, microphone, audio or video recording, cloud transcript storage, or AI summary. Notes remain in the current browser page and disappear when it is refreshed or closed. Google lookup sends only selected text, and only after you confirm.
What to expect
Zoom captions must be enabled and visible in the selected window. OCR accuracy depends on caption size, contrast, motion, and the window layout. Automatic detection works best with Zoom’s usual lower caption strip; Focus area can help when captions appear elsewhere. The app does not bypass host settings, browser permissions, or workplace security controls.
